Uml patches

Welcome to my humble website about UserModeLinux

Download here SKAS patches

The -bs/-bb patchsets, containing UML updates, to improve stability and performance, are still provided for old kernels, but updating to new releases has ceased. Use the latest 2.6.x.y for stability fixes.

Site sections:

UML internals

Here you'll find the start of one page about UML internals. I'll add content to it when I'll have the time to document my discoveries.

Patch location

The patches can be found here, in the archives. However, don't forget to read the page describing how to apply the patches - many people seem unable to do that, or more likely a bit lazy. It's especially true for the 2.4-bs* patches.

Read the FAQ!

Please go reading the FAQ, since people always ask the same questions about installing the patches. I've been too kind in answering them, and this is preventing me to actually do UML work. So, I'll start ignoring mails which ask question I answer on my site. In fact, I can say that people seem to have stopped with silly questions (with the sillier ones, at least).

Mirrors

Christopher Aker has kindly created a mirror of this site on http://uml.linode.com/blaisorblade/. It's updated twice a day... I hope this helps you...

Cryptographic signature

Here's my exported GPG key. As of 21 May 2005, I've started cryptographically signing my patchsets.

THANKS TO:

Many thanks to Intel Corporation for supporting my development efforts. It first supported me on summer 2005 for working full-time on UML for those three months. Then it donated me a brand new high-powered Xeon Dual Core box with 64bit support for UML development.

Thanks to Jason Lunz for early updates to the SKAS3 patch for the new kernels, both for 2.6.19 (where he corrected bugs in my early patches) and 2.6.20.

Thanks to Jeff Dike for creating UserModeLinux.

Also, thanks to my family for everything they've done for me!
